Back in May I posted an article entitled Activision Blizzard Q1 Financial Results (A glimpse into subscription levels) about how WOW's subscription base appears to be steadily in decline, and I predicted that we may see some server mergers in not too long. Today I found out that the Q2 2013 results indicate a drop of about 0.6 million subscribers. This is a drop of 1.4 million from last year at this time (9.1 million) and a drop of 3.4 million from 2011 (11.1 million).
Here is a quick recap of the last couple years:
Q1-2011 11.4 million
Q2-2011 11.1 million
Q3-2011 10.3 million
Q4-2011 10.2 million
Q1-2012 10.2 million
Q2-2012 9.1 million
Q3-2012 10 million
Q4-2012 9.6 million
Q1-2013 8.3 million
Q2-2013 7.7 million
This news is also coupled with the fact that Activision Blizzard is buying out their investor Vivendi to the tune of approximately $8.2 billion dollars. (source)
